about me
hi! i'm shelby and i create color coded lyric videos on youtube. i figured since i talk about my videos like i'm an actual artist, i might as well talk about them in a space that isn't youtube.
i started making videos at 14 years old in 2018 and i've been making them ever since. got into kpop december 2017 and i have been into ever since. stopped stanning in 2021-2022 but i still listen to it daily! as well as listening to other musical artists outside of kpop
about color coded lyrics
as mentioned above, i started making color coded lyric videos in 2018. i got real serious about it late 2019 as i wanted a change of pace from how i was doing videos before and that was me constantly changing layouts and not staying consistent with my channel, which explains why my videos are all the same. layout isn't mine either. layout is originally from 2016 and it is hard to trace it back to who thought of it the first time. i chose that layout to not look the same as other ccl creators these days, which seem to be multiplying by the minute
my do's and don'ts of color coded lyric videos
do's
- try and be creative!
- upload certain songs, my start was with japanese songs as people are mainly looking for videos on that if korean is the main part of an artist's discography
- credit where you get your translations from, even if you begin translating yourself!
- credit fans that scan albums and you use their scans
- credit if you're using a vocal analysis or line distribution (or both) for a video. i sometimes use them as a guide so it's not always needed. but, if a song is incredibly complicated, credit!
- soloists
- songs that are in english and have lyric videos uploaded by the entertainment company will not be uploaded on to youtube, rather, they will be on google drive
- uploading videos the minute the song is released. you are more likely to mess up the video as you may not even know who is singing what part. better to wait for live stages or vocal analyses to be completely sure on who is singing
